After 14
weeks into our third year, the Gift Card Program has generated total sales of
$31,225.00. ($20, 350.00 in Giant, $5,200.00 in Darrenkamp’ Market, and $5,675.00 Weis cards). Our earned profit for those 14 weeks is

remembering to purchase your “Cash for Causes” cards to your
favorite supermarket. Every card
purchased has earned Donegal Presbyterian Church 5% of the face value of the
card. Easiest money-maker in which you
can participate!
Need
cards during the week? Call 367-5101, and we can make arrangements to get the cards to
you. Forgot your checkbook or cash on
Sunday? Let me know, and arrangements
can be made for you to take the card along home with you.
Thanks
for your faithful support of this program.
And thanks to Debbie Sturgis and Missy Foltz for helping with the weekly
sales of the gift cards.

few weeks, plus some other exciting opportunities.
The last
“event” is the voluntary contribution of our per
capita/apportionment for 2011. This year
the breakdown is:
General
Assembly $ 6.50
Synod $ 2.20
Presbytery $19.44
Total to
pay $28.14 per member
By writing a check payable to “Donegal
Presbyterian Church” for $28.14, marked for “per capita”, you
enable other funds in our budget to be freed up. (You have a special envelope for this in your
box of giving envelopes!) Try to do this
during the month of January. In
responding to this request, we increase our mission outreach considerably and
the entire church budget for 2011 becomes an even greater force in God’s
Kingdom!
Keep up your faithful work and witness in the name of Jesus
Christ!
What is per capita?
The official
definition: “Per capita is an opportunity for all
communicant members of the Presbyterian church through the governing bodies to
participate equally, responsibly, and interdependently by sharing the cost of
coordination and evaluation of mission; and of performing ecclesiastical,
legislative, and judicial functions that identify a Reformed Church, while at
the same time strengthening the sense of community among all
Presbyterians” (GA Minutes, Part I, 1995).
In essence: Per
capita is a set amount of money (apportionment) per member that congregations
pay to the larger Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
Every Presbyterian shares in the benefit of the PC(USA)’s
system of government, so every Presbyterian is asked to share the expenses
associated with coordinating and performing the functions of that system.
